The 2026 Petrie Island Invitational Ice Fishing Derby takes place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Petrie Island, Ontario. The derby is limited to the area in Baitshop Bay at Petrie Island. It is an invitational derby organized by and for the ice fishermen of Baitshop Bay at Petrie Island, Ontario.

All profits raised at the 2026 ice fishing derby at Petrie Island will go to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

Registration for the derby takes place at Petrie Island Bait Shop located at the entrance to the Baitshop Bay ice fishing village. Cost to pre-register for the event is $30.00 for adults and $15.00 for kids aged 16 and under. Pre-registration begins Wednesday, February 11 and ends Saturday, February 14. Cost to register on the day of the event is $40.00 for adults and $20.00 for kids aged 16 and under.

There will be prizes awarded in three categories: Largest fish, second largest fish, and smallest fish. All potential winners must be legal and in-season.

Complete Information

We remind everyone that this is an invitational ice fishing derby. It is organized by and for the ice hut owners of Baitshop Bay, their guests, and people renting ice huts from the Petrie Island Marina. There will be cash prizes for three categories of fish, plus get in on your chance to buy tickets in our hugely popular 50-50 draw. All profits from the event go to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

Derby Regulations

Everyone participating in the 2026 Petrie Island Ice Fishing Derby must follow the regulations as set by the tournament organizers. Please read and/or download the 2026 Petrie Island Ice Fishing Derby regulations before derby day.

Visitor Parking

On derby day, vehicle traffic in the ice fishing village will be restricted to hut owners, staff and individuals renting ice huts from The Petrie Island Marina. Guests and visitors are asked to park their vehicles on Tweddle Road or Jeanne d'Arc and walk down on to the ice.
